Record Label logo tutorial - 13/12/16

ACTIVITY

During one of our lessons, we were taught how to use Illustrator using the basics such as direct selection, pathfinder, pen tool, alignment and combining shapes. Adobe Illustrator seemed a bit complicated at the beginning but gradually throughout the lesson, I managed to overcome the difficulties of the software which allowed me to design a batman logo.

I decided to proceed with the Batman logo tutorial which resulted to a successful outcome. I think that the software was useful and simple to use; it could also make a variety of designs as well as just logos. Here is a screenshot of my Batman logo- it was quite challenging at first but it got more in complex when using the tools that was shown to us in the beginning of the lesson.

During my spare time, I also wanted to excel my skills in Illustrator by creating sample logos and combining colours and shapes together. This enhanced my ability when using the software because of its complex tools as well as its settings. Firstly, I drew out a circle in the center of the page, along with a triangle in the center of the circle.

I played around using the tools that is provided in Illustrator, changed the colours and adjusted the stroke to be a bit more thicker. The colour that I chose compliment each other well as it presents simplicity.

To your left, is the practice design I achieved and I am quite please with it.

DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT OF MY RECORD LABEL LOGO

I started off by sketching out designs that will be suitable for a record label logo such as the following: (insert drawing of record label designs)

Choosing the most suitable and appropriate designs for a typical record label logo, I illustrated the designs using Illustrator- as I designed my first few logos, I kept adapting it which results to me doing more than 2 designs:

FINAL DESIGN

Choosing from my four designs, I decided to use the first option from the images above. This is because, it gives a professional look to it, and it follows a typical record label logo convention such as the aesthetic of the logo, the colour and the layout/design. I will be placing the logo at the back cover of my digipak.
