Colour Grading Experiment

Colour grading allows the video editor to control the image. A video clip conveys more than the content it contains. A varied and intentional colour palette in video can inform the audience in a multitude of ways. The mood of a narrative is enhanced by the use of colour grading. Me and my group decided on filming mini footages in order to experiment a suitable grading; the result turned out to be superior as well as the quality of the camera that is shown in the video. We analysed the content with different information.

Here is the comparison between our original footage and the footage that was colour graded in Adobe Premier Pro. You can clearly see that the footage on the left was more natural; however we did not play around with the brightness because we think that it was best to stick with the actual lighting in case of whitewashing the subjects in the video.

We feel like that the experiment was successful; we will try out different colour gradings that will be suitable for our music video.
