Research in Audience

Interview

While carrying out a research in audience, I asked two of my close friends if I could do an interview and I implemented the same questions as the ones from my survey. Here was the result:
Audience Research Interview from Nicole Torroba on Vimeo.

I conducted a survey using Survey-monkey in order to collect data within research in audience; I shared this survey through my social media's such as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. But then I also shared this through messaging or texting. In my opinion, I think that it was a very successful use of primary research as I figured out a range of answers from different people. Overall, around 30 people have conducted my survey.

  • From looking at this bar chart, we can clearly see that the majority of viewers are young adults. This shows that our generation are more likely to enjoy watching music videos.

  • In this pie chart coming to a conclusion, we can see that there is a conspicuous difference between the sexes such as the majority of the music videos are viewed by females whereas males have a low percentage.

  • Using an open question on my survey, I looked at the responses and made my final conclusions by adding up similar answers and applying it to a pie chart, here was the result. The majority of the people that answered my survey said that lip-syncing, location and the aesthetic appeals to them in a music video.

  • Moving on to the next question, you can clearly see that it is an open question again.  I looked at the responses and made my final conclusions by summing up the answers which is shown on the pie chart. Overall, most people would watch music videos occasionally whereby if their favourite artist releases a music video they tend to watch it straight away or if there was someone releasing a music video and the artist is known by everyone, then people would watch the music video released.

  • In the bar chart that is shown, I summed up the conclusion that people prefer the music video to not have a narrative- but some don't mind. However, people's responses were interesting as some mentioned that they prefer a music video to have a narrative as it has a meaningful message behind them.

  • To sum up the answer, the majority of the people watch music videos on YouTube as it is the most popular platform currently.

  • In conclusion, most people would prefer to see a music video in more than one location because they find it more interesting when watching.

  • From looking at the results shown, we can clearly see that Studio music videos are popular which indicates us that the audience enjoy watching MV's based in studios.

SUMMARY

To summarize the entire research in audience, we have come to a conclusion that our target audience for our chosen genre are young adults ages 14 and above, who are interested in watching music videos that is conceptual, who often watches music videos and a 50/50 rational result of those who do not mind a narration in music videos which we will be including in our project.
